General Information
Although an examination of Regis High School's website and social media pages does not indicate the presence of anti-racism initiatives, reporting has indicated that the school is taking steps towards implementing a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiative, including hiring a Director of DEI and pledging to eliminate implicit bias.

Actions Taken

Resources
  • As part of the theme of “Race: School, Country, Church," Regis "students and faculty have participated in open, honest discussions... Such conversations feed into our broader Race at Regis initiative."
  • Regis announced that, as part of its "Race at Regis" initiative, it will be creating two new positions: a Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and a new recruiter in the Admissions Office.
  • On July 26, 2021, Regis announced that it appointed Belkise Dallam as the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
  • Regis posted a video for a 2021 Regis Open House: Intro to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
  • The school has "Social Justice Advocational Training" or SJAT's, where students can "explore and learn how to address topics including, but not limited to, migration, climate change, race, queerness, poverty, gender, and mental health."
Symbolic Actions
  • A Diversity Steering Committee appears to have been formed, and a Director of DEI may be hired. The new DEI director is to be "involved in every aspect of the school (admissions, curriculum, 'professional development for all faculty and staff', strategic planning, hiring, and 'programming for student formation')."
  • Regis pledged to be "free from any racial or other bias, either implicit or explicit" in a July 8 message to alumni.
  • After a Black Lives Matter petition was created by the student body, Regis created a "Race at Regis" initiative. There is a committee of 15 alumni, trustees, and administrators working on the "Race at Regis" work.
  • Regis announced on April 23, 2021 that "the Diversity Club and IDEALS, a student-led leadership committee, invited Regians to reflect on the Chauvin trial as well as the spate of violence and killings our nation has witnessed in recent days." Soon after, the school held a forum.
