"Mayville State offers 80+ majors, minors, and program opportunities. Students may explore new opportunities in nursing, agribusiness, accounting, teacher education, and more. Whether you wish to pursue a career as an educator or a medical professional, or you are interested in a wide variety of other career paths, Mayville State has exciting degree programs for you. MSU offers a variety of extended learning opportunities. Distance students may enroll as non-degree-seekers or pursue degree programs. An innovative online RN-to-BSN program and graduate nursing degree options feature flexibility to accommodate working nurses who wish to further their education. MSU partners with Lake Region State College in Devils Lake, N.D., North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, N.D., and Williston (N.D.) Founded in 1889, the school has a total enrollment of over 1,110 students. The student to faculty ratio is 13 to 1.
General Information
MSU has instituted an Office of Diversity and Inclusion in addition to creating a Diversity Committee. Mayville hosts events for DEI. At this time, no mandatory Critical Race Training is required of students. However, see developments below:

Admissions Policies
  • Mayville has a "Cultural Diversity Waiver" for applicants who "come from a culturally diverse background."
Faculty/Staff Requirements
  • Mayville State extended its 2016-2020 strategic plan to 2022. This plan outlines the school's goals for diversity and inclusion in recruitment and retention, as well as in all areas of the school's policies.
Program and Research Funding
  • Mayville State University partnered with the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) to “help prepare and credential faculty in the evidence-based teaching practices proven to increase student achievement and close equity gaps.”

  • Mayville State has an Office of Diversity and Inclusion which holds events and activities for DEI.
  • Mayville State University has a Facebook page for “Diversity and Inclusion at MSU” which highlights information on DEI initiatives at the university.
Symbolic Actions
  • Mayville announced on Twitter in 2021 that, "On May 5th, the MSU Housing Department along with the Diversity and Inclusion Department organized and put on a Color Run for students, faculty, staff, and community members!"
  • Mayville State annually holds a "Multicultural Showcase" where "the Office of Diversity and Inclusion and the Multicultural Club showcase cultures currently represented on our campus."
  • The Office of Diversity and Inclusion at Mayville State University is committed to “fostering an inclusive campus community that values, respects and supports diversity in multiple forms.”
