School Information
"Shaped by Christian principles, McMurry University challenges students to examine our complex world from multiple perspectives in preparation for lives of leadership, service, and professional success" (Source: https://www.linkedin.com/school/mcmurry-university/). Founded in 1923, the university has a student to faculty ratio of 11 to 1 and a total undergraduate enrollment of over 1,000. The school has 20 academic departments which offer 45 majors and 38 minors.
General Information
The university has instituted a Center for Community Inclusion in 2016. In response to the death of George Floyd, the Tipi Village tradition was ended. In 2020, a Coordinator of Inclusion and Diversity was appointed. A class in inclusive education is required for teacher certification. At this time, no mandatory Critical Race Training is required. However, see developments below:

Curriculum Changes and Requirements
  • The university requires all candidates for teacher certification to take a class on inclusive education.
Program and Research Funding
  • In Fall of 2016, the university instituted the Center for Community Inclusion which is "dedicated to the systemic and systematic understanding of issues surrounding diverse populations, institutional heritage, multicultural exposure, internationalization, among others, is of immense importance."
Resources
  • Following the death of George Floyd, McMurry decided to end its Tipi Village tradition. Additionally, a Black Student Union was formed.
  • On August 17, 2020, McMurry University Athletics appointed Larry Dockery as its Coordinator of Inclusion and Diversity.
Symbolic Actions
  • On June 3, 2020, McMurry released a "Message of Solidarity Against Racism and Injustice."
