As part of the Bachelors degree core curriculum and general education requirements, the university requires all undergraduates to have completed one course from “Goal 7: Human Diversity,” where students will be educated on racism and diversity.

As part of Component 1 from the MSUM DEI Strategic Plan 2022-2025, the university will encourage inclusive curricula by conducting “training for faculty and staff for inclusive curricula through an intersectional framework.”

The Liberal Arts and Sciences Curriculum's (LASC) "Goal 9: Ethical and Civic Responsibility" covers "diverse views of social justice [and] the common good in a pluralistic society."

The Peace Officer Program under the Criminal Justice Major teaches "cultural competency and diversity learning outcome" including topics of "nature and significance of interpersonal and institutional prejudice and discrimination", "race, ethnicity, gender, and social class influence our perceptions of criminality", and "the role of the police as first line responders to marginal and vulnerable populations."

MSUM’s Assistant Athletics Director, Nolan Schmidt, was selected to participate in the College Sports Communicators Diversity and Inclusion Fellowship for the 2023-24 academic school year where he is “one of a record 20 members who are slated to study issues surrounding diversity, equity and inclusion in athletics communications and within college athletics overall.”

Minnesota State seeks to revise its law enforcement curriculum by implementing a "Multi-Prong Approach to... Education Reform." The reforms include changing its "Human Diversity" requirement to a "Systemwide Racial Issues Requirement for Graduation Diversity." Part of the State's mission statement includes "training of culturally competent peace officers who are prepared to deliver justice and serve all people and communities with dignity and respect." This affects Minnesota State Schools including Minnesota State University at Moorhead.
