Oklahoma State University has implemented a mandatory university-wide training program for faculty, staff, and students, which discusses implicit bias and equity. See developments below:

Actions Taken

Anti-Racism, Bias, and Diversity Training
  • The university implemented a mandatory training module called "Fostering and Promoting a Culture of Diversity & Inclusion at OSU for Students," which covers topics such as "equity" and "implicit bias."
Curriculum Changes and Requirements
  • OSU undergraduates are required to enroll in a diversity designated course.
Program and Research Funding
  • On October 26, 2023, OSU’s Division of Institutional Diversity hosted its annual gala and awarded students with the Rising Star in Diversity award for their dedication to diversity and inclusion activities on campus.
  • OSU has over “70 diversity related student, faculty and staff organizations.”
  • OSU has an Inclusion Leadership Program (ILP), which “is a year-long program designed to equip participating students with the skills and knowledge necessary to become effective leaders in a more diversely inclusive society.“
Resources
  • For the twelfth consecutive year, OSU received the 2023 Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award from Insight into Diversity magazine.
  • On February 17, 2023, OSU hosted the first Coming Together for Racial Understanding event that highlights diversity and equity through an anti-racist lens.
  • According to the OSU Office of the Registrar, there were “approximately 100 diversity courses and 121 sections offered.”
  • The Division of Institutional Diversity at OSU has a Diversity Hall of Fame to honor and recognize those “who have significantly contributed to the advancement of diversity and inclusion at Oklahoma State University.”
Symbolic Actions
  • The Oklahoma State University Writing Center sought undergraduate tutors to serve as “Antiracist Cluster Hires,” and asks that applicants exhibit “willingness to accept all Englishes.”
