"Radford University is a comprehensive public university of 10,695 students that has received national recognition for many of its undergraduate and graduate academic programs, as well as its sustainability initiatives. Radford University serves the Commonwealth of Virginia and the nation through a wide range of academic, cultural, human service and research programs. Well known for its strong faculty/student bonds, innovative use of technology in the learning environment and vibrant student life on a beautiful 204-acre American classical campus, Radford University offers students many opportunities to get involved and succeed in and out of the classroom. The University offers 76 bachelor’s degree programs in 47 disciplines, three associate degrees, and six certificates at the undergraduate level; 28 master's programs in 23 disciplines and six doctoral programs at the graduate level; and 14 post-baccalaureate certificates and one post-master's certificate." General Information
Radford University has encouraged its students to attend Black Lives Matter protests, whilst prohibiting other types of gatherings. No mandatory Critical Race Training sessions are yet required of students. However, see developments below:

Anti-Racism, Bias, and Diversity Training
  • The Center for Diversity and Inclusion offers "diversity, equity and inclusion trainings" upon request.
Political Actions and Support for Anti-Racism
  • University encourages students to attend Black Lives Matter protests, despite COVID-19 restrictions.
Program and Research Funding
  • The Diversity Awareness Programming (DAP) at Radford University is a student-led group in the Center for Diversity and Inclusion that is supported by University Student Activity Fees to bring awareness to diversity, inclusion, and social justice issues.
  • The Biology Department at Radford University describes its research lab as “an anti-racist environment which aims to promote intersectional diversity, equity and inclusion.”
  • As part of the description of its RISE (Realizing Inclusive Student Excellence) program, Radford states, "We are working with faculty to build cultural awareness and increase the use of inclusive pedagogy strategies in their classrooms."

  • The Center for Diversity and Inclusion at Radford University helps to advance the schools efforts towards diversity and inclusion and provides information, activities, and resources towards a more anti-racist education.
  • The Teaching Resource Center at the College of Education and Human Development at Radford University has a collection of multicultural and diversity teaching materials to be used in the classroom.
  • The Center for Diversity and Inclusion offers "Social justice and diversity conversations."

Symbolic Actions
  • The Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning released its "Statement On Anti-Racism."
  • The Center for Diversity and Inclusion "envision[s] Radford University as a multicultural institution that provides a forward-thinking and progressive approach to social justice and equality" and "provide[s] a concentrated focus on the progress, success and concerns of underrepresented populations on Radford University’s campus, including African-American, Asian-American, LatinX and Native American students."
  • The Radford University Police Chief states, "To be an active and effective police force we understand we must serve with professionalism and exhibit our diversity, tolerance, and sustained high standards in policing every day."
