School Information
"RSU was founded in 1909 – just two years after Oklahoma was granted statehood. The university was officially established as Eastern University Preparatory School in Claremore by the Oklahoma Legislature in its second session. The mission of the Eastern University Preparatory School was to prepare the sons and daughters of Native Americans, farmers, and ranchers for entry into the colleges and universities of Oklahoma" (Source: https://www.rsu.edu/about/history/). The university has a total of 3,198 students enrolled, with 221 faculty members. The school's student to faculty ratio is 16 to 1 for undergraduates and 13 to 1 for graduates. The university offers classes in person at three campuses and online as well. The university offers Bachelor's, Master's, and associate degrees.
General Information
Rogers State University requires all students to take UNIV 1152 The University Experience, which is a course that incorporates DEI conceptually. RSU has also implemented its Integration Project and offers DEI programming. See developments below:

Actions Taken

Anti-Racism, Bias, and Diversity Training
  • Rogers State University offers diversity and inclusion programming on the subject of "issues of identity, culture, power, and influence."
  • RSU has an Integration Project which is defined as "a series of events, training, and organizations to better assist the Rogers State University community in understanding and embracing the various forms of diversity on campus while creating an environment that promotes inclusivity and togetherness."
Curriculum Changes and Requirements
  • All students take UNIV 1152 The University Experience in their first semester. This course covers DEI and is a requirement for all students as part of the First Year Experience.
Resources
  • Rogers State University has an Instagram account devoted to its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee.
  • The Department of Psychology & Sociology offers an "Understanding Human Diversity" micro-credential which is "designed to develop knowledge, skills, and the application of content related to cultural competency" and "demonstrates to employers and graduate schools that the student has an understanding of social differences and how to think critically about social inequality, race, and gender."
Symbolic Actions
  • On November 12, 2020, RSU posted a YouTube video outlining how RSU Athletics participated in the NCAA Diversity and Inclusion Campaign.
  • On June 4, 2020, RSU tweeted a letter in response to the death of George Floyd. In the letter, the president states, "While we all have work to do, we at Rogers State University are committed to ensuring equality for all by fostering a diverse and inclusive environment for every community member."
  • RSU's 2023 Co-Curricular Assessment Plan states that the "education offered by the institution recognizes human and cultural diversity and provides students with growth opportunities and lifelong skills to live and work in a multicultural world."
  • RSU's 2023 Co-Curricular Assessment Plan states that the "University Vision" is to "cultivate a vibrant campus culture that embraces diversity, equity, inclusion and global awareness."
