Actions Taken

Anti-Racism, Bias, and Diversity Training
  • The Myatt Center offers several program series, including the “Courageous Conversation Series” which focuses on “conversations that cultivate diversity, inclusion, equity, and a sense of belonging.”
  • The Myatt Center offers several optional training programs, workshops, and certificates including the Trait, Behavior, Attitudes, and Decision Workshop, Social Justice 101 and 201, and the Implicit Bias/Unconscious Bias Workshop. A certificate for Diversity and Inclusion is offered only to faculty and staff. Intergroup Dialogue discusses “intergroup relations, conflict, and social justice.”
  • There are several required programs for first year students, most of them involving DEI topics. Also, all first-year students are required to take the Diversity and Inclusion Course which serves to “introduce key concepts related to identity, bias, power, and privilege and what [it] means to be part of a diverse community. Includes flexible learning modules that allow students to practice allyship, self-care, and strategies to create inclusive space.”
Faculty/Staff Requirements
  • Employees are required to take the Employee Diversity and Inclusion Workshops for “in-person and instructor-led training as well as online training and access to resources about diversity and inclusion in the workplace.”
Program and Research Funding
  • The university is offering a "Race and Ethnic Studies Minor." The following course is required for minor: "SOCI 3345 - Introduction to Race and Ethnic Studies."
  • The Myatt Center hosts a program known as the Diversity Peer Educators, where students “provide peer support and referrals to essential University resources as appropriate; serve as student mentors for the BUILD mentoring program; and develop and implement DEI programs and facilitate DEI dialogues across the University of New Haven community.”
  • The University of New Haven annually conducts the Campus Climate Survey for Diversity and Inclusion. To incentivize the 2023 survey, the school had a pool of $3,000 in incentives for participants.
