General Information
The University of Texas, San Antonio has taken steps to re-evaluate and re-imagine its relationship with its police department. The university is considering increased use of "community policing", although the exact form of community policing that will be used is not yet known. No mandatory Critical Race Training sessions are yet required of students. However, see developments below:

Actions Taken

Political Actions and Support for Anti-Racism
  • Due to Senate Bill 17, the Office of Inclusive Excellence has shut down, which was made effective January 1, 2024.
Program and Research Funding
  • On January 15, 2021, UTSA received a three-year, $5 million grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to support the Democratizing Racial Justice project on campus to address racism and inequality.
