General Information
Students took most of the initiative in UVU's anti-racist programming. In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the university recently hosted a week of workshops, an "Afrofuturism" art installation, and a keynote speech. No mandatory Critical Race Training sessions are yet required of students. However, see developments below:

Actions Taken

Anti-Racism, Bias, and Diversity Training
  • The Office of Teaching and Learning offers 25 hour certifications in Anti-Racist Pedagogy as well as Assessment & Inclusive Design. The school will soon add another topic, which is Inclusive, Intercultural, Global Pedagogy.
  • The school’s People & Culture division states that it “partners with the UVU Diversity and Inclusion Committee to provide training to promote inclusion across the university.” As part of this commitment, the school states that it will “increase the number of employees trained by 3% each year.”

  • Multicultural Student Services also offers scholarships such as the Cultural Diversity Scholarship.
Resources

  • The Career & Internship Center provides information on DEI practices and recommends students to promote DEI within their respective organizations and ventures.
  • The school’s Multicultural Student Services hosts several relevant initiatives and programs divided by several backgrounds.
  • The school made a statement saying, “UVU Workforce Planning is committed to ensuring hiring pools include diverse, qualified candidates through the utilization of Search Advocacy and UVU Hire training along with job postings across multiple recruiting platforms to reach a larger and more diverse applicant pool.”
